BARMAH-KOONDROOK PROTEST RIDE

AND RALLIES

90 people on horseback rallied through crowds at the Koondrook Red Gum Festival last Sunday to demonstrate against any Government closure of activities in the Red Gum along the Murray.

This followed a ride from Barmah to Echuca, a protest rally in Echuca and the continuation of the ride to Koondrook.

At Koondrook, Leader of the Koondrook section of the protest ride, Audrey Dickens gave a stirring speech.  Other speakers included Bob Richardson (Push for the Bush), Max Baker (Barmah Cattlemen), Peter Newman (Barmah Forest Protection League), Peter Walsh MP (National Party) and Graeme Stoney MP (Retiring Liberal Party Member and Mountain Cattlemen).
