KUSTER'S LAST STAND

Victorian dairy farmer Ian Kuster is the latest victim of the Brack's government's oppressive Native Vegetation Laws. He pushed over 28 wind damaged trees on his farm to avoid them falling on his cows.

For this he has been told by his local council that he is to be fined, must plant 1080 trees to offset the loss of 28, put a covenant on the planted trees, pay a 10,000 bond and leave the fallen trees. Knowing that these laws will become even more oppressive if we don't fight them, a small band from the Push For The Bush network joined with Country Alliance candidate Danny Lee* to defy the laws. People came from as far away as Gippsland, the Otways and Mildura.

They camped at Ian's farm, planted 56 trees, pushed the fallen trees into a stockade formation and hoisted the rebel Eureka Flag! Lots of embarrassing media for the government!

We'll keep you posted.

* Note that Nationals MP Bill Baxter also attended. Push For The Bush will work with any party or individual who supports country causes.
